Project Brief: The initial enquiry was for POS units to hold LCD panels on a new sales desk which is to be installed in the Vodaphone shops around Australia. The sales desk is a specially made unit with a circular Red Glass top and is designed at standing height.
With the help of R&D a modified POS using a 50 mm. Donut clamp was built as a prototype so that the cables could be passed down the centre of the pole to prevent clients tampering with the cables. Special exit holes were provided for the keyboard and mouse cable at the worktop level while the monitor cables went to the top of the pole. The reason for preferring the Donut clamp to the POS unit was that the Donut Clamp looked better with the circular design of the desk and also it allowed Vodafone to add additional panels to a desk as the client traffic in the shop called for more panels to be installed. Only the larger capitol city stores will be fitted with back to back donut clamps on the initial installation while other shops will be upgraded as needed.
The poles and donut clamps are being shipped to the shop fitters in each state who will ensure that each unit is correctly installed and ready for the IT crew to install the CPU, LCD Panel, Keyboard and Mouse. When an upgrade is required it can be handled by the IT Staff without the need to send a shop-fitter to modify the existing desk.
